5 – 26 August 2017

Curated by Róisín Foley

EMERGE proudly debuts work from graduating students of CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa and St John’s Central College as part of Cork Craft Month.

Each of the makers has taken their first steps toward professional practice moving outside of the college campus. Presenting works from the three colleges, Emerge aims to present a snapshot up-and-coming contemporary Irish craft and design.

An appreciation of raw materials and age old craft skills are blended with modern technology and production methods. We see design influences at play that come from a mass of in depth research. Clean forms often mask hours of planning, testing, and careful production required to complete these pieces.

Cork Craft Month 2017 is a month long festival of craft celebrating of the amazing abundance of high quality craft produced in Cork County and City. Crafts people working individually or alongside other artists present a diverse range of high quality craft activities. Through exhibitions, workshops, craft fairs and seminars you can make, see, collect and learn about contemporary craft.

There will be two free children’s workshops running in the gallery as part of this exhibition. For more information please click here.
